Watch the new Arca video for ‘Manners’, the closing track from his awesome last album. Stretch 2 is out now on UNO NYC, get it here. Video directed by Jesse Kanda.
We’ve been obsessing over Litanic Mask ever since we first heard some of their demos last fall. We even went ahead and listed the early version of ‘Virgin Spring’ as one of our favorite songs of the past year, and got them to put something together for our guest mix series. In the meantime, Litanic Mask have finished their debut full-length and I can tell you right now *spoiler alert* that it is going to be high on our albums of 2012 list because it’s HUGE. The self-titled album features some stuff that has been updated from the demos and a few new dark pop gems. It’s due out on Halloween via Fast Weapons. Watch the video for the epic beauty that is ‘Virgin Spring’:
Back in April, Chelsea Wolfe told us she was going to record an acoustic album, “just for fun”. And, well, if she makes records like this just for fun, we can only imagine what that “next real full-length” is going to sound like. Unknown Rooms: A Collection of Acoustic Songs is now available for pre-order on iTunes, coming with two bonus tracks that won’t be on the physical release. (One of them is ‘Virginia Woolf Underwater’, a song we got to hear remixed by Revelator.) ANYWAY. Out of Town Films recorded this beautiful session of Wolfe performing ‘The Way We Used To’; watch it below. Here are a couple more gems from Unknown Rooms.
Toby Ridler, the dude behind Becoming Real project, has a new video out. ‘Slow Memory’ features vocals by Alice of Sunless ’97 (whose latest single we mentioned last month), and happens to be our favorite track from Solar Dreams/Neon Decay EP, released earlier this year. Becoming Real is going on a mini-tour supporting Grimes, who also has a new video but you already know that. Watch the creepy ‘Slow Memory’ clip, directed by Matthew Reed:
Becoming Real on Soundcloud.
This fresh video from Seattle goths Nightmare Fortress seems like a neat way to kick off the new season at No Conclusion. Their debut Until the Air Runs out EP drops September 1st, but you can already get the digital version from the ever-awesome Sweating Tapes. Video directed by Sam Akina and starring some old creep. Where did they find this guy?!
Incase’s Room 205 has quickly established itself as one of the best online video session series, featuring artists like Austra, Chelsea Wolfe, Blouse and others. The latest episode, which stars Camella Lobo’s Tropic of Cancer, is probably our favorite one yet (along with the Chelsea Wolfe one). Here’s the video of Lobo and Burch performing ‘A Color’ from last year’s The Sorrow of Two Blooms EP, watch the other two videos over at Room 205.
Tropic of Facebook.
LA duo Jewels of the Nile are readying a new EP to follow up 2011′s strong full-length debut Pleasure. The demo version of ‘Gold Chains’, one of the songs from the forthcoming EP, got a neat accompanying video. You can stream ‘El Dorado’, another song that will presumably be featured on the aforementioned EP, over at their Soundcloud.
I wouldn’t be myself if I wouldn’t mention that they made a rad mix for NC.
Fatima Al Qadiri‘s new GSX Remixes EP collects different takes on songs from her remarkable Genre-Specific Xperience EP, released on UNO NYC last year. Stream the remixes by Kingdom, Ikonika and Girl Unit below. (A few other have popped up on YouTube.) GSX Remixes EP is now available from iTunes/Boomkat/etc. As FACT points out, the Thunder Horse video for ‘D-Medley‘, my favorite along with Tabor Robak’s ‘Vatican Vibes‘, is now online. Do watch it in full-screen and HD.
‘Solace’ is a fashion film “exploring the relationship between a young girl and an Angel of Death”. More importantly, it features music by Chelsea Wolfe – a stunning Revelator remix of her song ‘Virginia Woolf Underwater’, to be more precise. I should probably mention that the fashion was custom designed for the project by BK Phillips. Directed by Charlene Bagcal.
Also, I’ve met Chelsea Wolfe and you haven’t.
