Don’t wanna be the only one not to post this, lol. Just listened to ‘In the Same Room’ about ten times in a row… I don’t think I can wait another month to hear this new Julia Holter album! Ekstasis is coming out March 8 on RVNG Intl. and it’s available for pre-order here. I assume you’ve already heard ‘Marienbad‘, right? Stream another new song below.
A guy with only a synth intensely shouting lines like “I hate human race” and “Elvis is Jesus is Elvis” in a Slavic English accent? Like my friend said after seeing him live for the first time – “This just shouldn’t work… But somehow it does!” It probably helps that the songs are catchy as hell. Download IHHR EP from ManMachine‘s Bandcamp.
Watch the awesome new video for Dylan Ettinger‘s ‘Wintermute‘, the first single from his upcoming album. Lifetime of Romance is due out next month on Not Not Fun Records. Video by Melissa Cha.
It’s getting difficult to keep up with all these CREEP remixes, since Brooklyn duo seems to really have a thing for remixing as well as having their own songs remixed. (And we seem to have athingforthem.) So what is it this time? Their latest single ‘Animals’, featuring Holly Miranda on vocals, gets a treatment from London duo Alpines. CREEP’s debut album is coming out sometime soon. The sooner the better.
‘Genevieve’ is a recent internet single from Chicago’s Elon Katz, better known as White Car. The song won’t be featured on his debut full-length Everyday Grace, which comes out February 28 via Hippos in Tanks. But ‘Now We Continue’, another White Car gem we’ve had stuck on repeat but haven’t posted for some reason (laziness??), will be on the record, as well as ‘She the Bodiless’. Watch the trailer for Everyday Grace.
Last October Montréal’s Visage Musique label/collective introduced us to some fine minimal synth/disco artists with their free compilationVolume 1. Their first release this year is a four-track debut EP by an italo freak called Tony Cops. Eventide EP is out now, you can stream and buy it at Tony Cops’ Bandcamp.
When we *really* like a band, we can’t help but post about anything they do. So here’s a little update onourdarlingsLitanic Mask: Last week the Portland duo shared two new songs on their Soundcloud, along with a remix of ‘Virgin Spring’, one of our favorite songs of the past year. Stream the wonderful eight-and-a-half minutes long gem ‘Kabuki’ below and then click here and listen to ‘Grey Stones’ as well. Thank you.
We were first introduced to MKRNI via High Places’ guest mix. MKRNI are a “psyco electropical” trio based in Santiago, Chile. Last month they released a new album called Playa Futuro, a follow-up to their debut Jumper (which featured the incredibly catchy tune ‘Humedad‘). Stream the new album in its entirety on MKRNI’s Bandcamp.
Russian duo Stoned Boys have recently released a fine debut full-length called Dangerous Skies as a free download. Check out two songs below. If you’re a fan of Pictureplane and stuff like that, you might dig their weird blend of sleazy synth pop, trance, bass music, witch house and whatnot. Stream and/or download the entire album here. (Here’s the .zip file.) [via]
Here’s a nice remix of o F F Love‘s gorgeous ‘Close to U, I’m Not’, recently released as a single on M-Maximal. (The song will also be featured on his upcoming full-length Probably Love.) Ever wondered what it would be like if o F F Love was a teen pop idol? There is a cool new video for the original version of ‘Close to U’ that shows o F F Love fan’s bedroom.
Nowa Huta‘s Facebook page says – “dissolve the need for words” and well, they seem to be sticking to that. All the info on three new songs they posted today: “Here’s some new NH tunes we’ve been working on – enjoy x”. Guess they’re right, all there really is to say is that you should listen to them. And if you haven’t listened to their first EP, you should listen to that too. While you’re at it, you could also check out their fine NC guest mix. Here’s one of the new tunes, stream all three on their Soundcloud.
Only a few months after having released Tragedy, Julia Holter announces a new album! The follow-up to her wonderful debut is called Ekstasis and is due out in March on RVNG Intl.. And if ‘Marienbad’ is anything to go by, Ekstasis should be as gorgeous as its predecessor. It will also feature a new mix of the gem ‘Goddess Eyes’ along with a sequel; download the original version and stream the new song:
