Watch the video for ‘Odessa’, the first single from Caribou‘s forthcoming full-length Swim. There’s some blood, some fire and water, and a lot of snow. Hmm… Anyhow, can’t wait for the new album.
The only info on the mysterious Witchcraft is that there should be a 7″ on Captured Tracks soon. Which is good. And so are their catchy Blank Dogs-style lo-fi post-punk jams. But I would reconsider that band name if I was them… (Or have they already changed it to MINKS?) Download ‘Funeral Song’ below and stream two more tracks on Witchcraft’s Myspace.
Seen this around on blogs and liked it so I thought we should post it too. Ever wondered what it’d sound like if Tickley Feather was a member of Beach House? Me neither, but I’m guessing it would sound something like this. Check out two tracks from Orlando, Florida’s Emily Reo, the wonderful ‘Metal on Your Skin’ and a cover that doesn’t suck (!). You can stream her album on last.fm and buy it from A Dracula Records.
Eluvium‘s new album Similes is out February 23rd on Temporary Residence. We dig the first single, ‘The Motion Makes Me Last’ so here’s an mp3, video AND a Four Tet remix (thanks to The Needle Drop for the heads up). Pre-order Simileshere.
2009, La Station Radar 01. Something Higher; 02. “Yes, of Course”; 03. Better Friends; 04. Reading Stones; 05. Rocket Trip to Nowhere; 06. Amsler Grid; 07. Myriads; 08. Barry Lyndon; 09. Lost
We’re a little late on this one, but I have a hunch we might not be the only ones. Lost is the second full-length by Ela Orleans, a New York-based Polish musician who creates wonderful hazy soundscapes (or, in her own words, “movies for ears”) using guitar, violin, keyboard, sampler and vocals. This album is absolutely gorgeous so grab those two tracks below and order the LP from La Station Radar. Now.
Watch the video for ‘Teleportation: KAL’ from Excepter‘s new double disc album Presidence. Directed by JFR/Fingered. The clip is a little weird and hypnotic. You don’t say…
Daytrotter just posted the new session by Mount Eerie. They played three songs from their fine last year’s effort Wind’s Poem. Here’s one track, read the article and download the entire session here. And yeah, of course it’s good.
Happy Valentine’s Day!! We have some jolly love songs for you! Or not. Indie schmindie classics and some other stuff. Black Tambourine, Abe Vigoda, Smog, Guided by Voices, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Shocking Pinks, Beach House, Digital Leather, The Wedding Present and more.
Watch the new Tan Dollar video for ‘The Turning Point’ off of their new album Your Body as a Temple. “This video was put together with footage from the January tour. Mostly us driving down the 101 freeway and playing shows at McWorld in LA and Adobe Books in SF. Editing by Paul Rosales (Wonder Wheel) and filming by us.” Lo-fi music, lo-fi video.
2010, Moment Sound 01. Slava – Anything; 02. Uncle Garo – Genie; 03. Lokua – Violence Jack; 04. Garo – Steamship; 05. Lokua – Chiberia; 06. Garo – Nightlife Reconsidered; 07. Slava – Cosmic River
Moment Sound Vol. 1 is the first release in Moment Sound’s new vinyl series. It collects tracks by the label’s founders Garo, Lokua and Slava. If you’re up for some 80′s-style electronics, make sure to check this one out ’cause it’s awesome. The compilation is due out this March, preorder it and listen to some more songs here. We give you the opening track:
