DOUBLE DAGGER – MORE

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

2009, Thrill Jockey Records
01. No Allies; 02. Vivre Sans Temps Mort; 03. We Are The Ones; 04. Camouflage; 05. The Lie/The Truth; 06. Surrealist Composition With Your Face; 07. Helicopter Lullaby; 08. Neon Gray; 09. Half-Life; 10. Two-Way Mirror

A punk rock trio from the bustling scene of Baltimore. Active since 2002, they’ve shared the stage with such great acts as Ponytail, Dan Deacon and Videohippos. More is their third full length, a follow-up to their great critically acclaimed 2007 Ragged Rubble.

SOUNDS LIKE
They have no guitar. But they certainly don’t seem to need one. Agressive, hard and noisy, yet almost melodic. Or to use a term they coined themselves “graphicdesigncore”.

We bring you their anthemic lead single The Lie/The Truth backed by vocalist Sam Herring of Future Islands

Album out May 5. Keep your eyes peeled. More songs and info at their MySpace page.

THE FLIPS – THAT GIRL STACEY 7"

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

2008, Bancroft Records
01. That Girl Stacey; 02. I Still Wanna Be His Girl; 03. Baby (It’s Gonna Be Alright)

An all-girl pop group from Milwaukee.

SOUNDS LIKE
60′s pop girl groups. 90′s twee bands. Pyjama parties. Cutting class on a sunny day + dissing Stacey behind the school cafeteria.
The Flips don’t bring anything new to the table, really, but if you like sweet girl group melodies and overlapping vocals you won’t be disappointed.

More songs and more info at their Myspace page. Buy That Girl Stacey 7″.
